It’s been 4 days since then, and I’m still feeling the after effects of Saturday. I started everything off by partying with some friends Friday night and got to bed around 4:30AM… Woke up the next morning at 8:00AM to pick up some friends at the Metro (Subway) and then head to the DZ. My mom, being a pastry chef decided that she wanted to make me some cookies and brownies to bring with me, so I had about 3 boxes of junk food with me along with my skydive gear, a small ziplock back full of cherries, my box… » Read more…

Only 6 more sleeps until I get to do a high altitude 4 way jump with some friends. For those of you who don’t know what that means… Normally, when you do a skydive, you jump out of the plane at 13500 feet. Or in some cases 10500 feet (if in a smaller plane). If the plane is between 10000 and 13000 feet for more than 30 minutes, then they have to have oxygen available for the skydivers with a minimum of 1 mask for every 10 jumpers. If above 13000 feet, everyone needs oxygen for the duration of the… » Read more…

The most painful and agonizing part of the sport is the fact that 95% of your time is spent waiting for something. Waiting on the weather to improve… » Read more…

I was thinking about all these jumps and reading my SIM (Skydivers Instruction Manual) and considering/reviewing all the tiny little critical things that I learned and experienced and then all those little details just begin to swirl around and blur together and all I can remember is that I went up in the Otter a bunch of times and jumped out and some people were with me and they were nice and fun and nobody died and I passed each level and then I was done. I do have video of two of them, so I’ll throw them up. Maybe… » Read more…
Aggravating day!

So all in all, we ended up being 2 regular jumpers and 19 tandems. Load 1 got off the ground without a hitch, well apart from a PFF student having a botched landing and face planting and a tandem with a heavier girl landing rolling into the parachute… We had a good laugh . The twin otter stopped to gas up for load 2 which I was on with a buddy. Jump went impeccably. Load 3 also went without any problems… Load 4 however… Never got off the ground, leaving 6 of the tandems I had brought hanging around waiting… » Read more…
